Book about magic

There are two kinds of writings having magic for their subject: there are books of magic, and books about magic. This article will deal with the latter kind.

Books are considered to be about magic if they were written by a theoretical magician or magio-historian, rather than by a practicing magician, and they would be of no use to someone attempting to teach himself or herself practical magic. They are far more common than books of magic, and they may be purchased “for two or three guineas at a good bookseller” [1].

Books about magic typically describe the history of English magic or are biographies of individual magicians.

The more observant perusers among our distinguished guests will unequivocally tie books about magic to theoretical magic, both in nature being quite acquiescent.
