The title of the first book that attracts Mr Segundus's eye when he is briefly invited into Mr Norrell's library at Hurtfew. His anxious host, seeing him drawn to it, interposes that it is "a foolish work", and Mr Segundus politely defers to his judgment and passes on. But then, Mr Norrell is equally disparaging about all the books in which Mr Segundus shows any interest. It may be his unworthy motive to dissuade his guest from picking up any of his precious volumes and looking in them[1].

Nothing further is known of this book than its title, which name perhaps indicates it is a book of divination. The unorthodox spelling suggests a work of 16th or 17th century origin.
