Liber Novus is a book written by the 17th century magician Richard Chaston.

Mr Norrell recommends it to Jonathan Strange when the two men are discussing fairies following the latter's return from his consulting visit to see King George in November 1814. He had evidently recommended it several times previously to Mr Strange, not remembering that he had sent the book to his home at Hurtfew Abbey to prevent Mr Strange from actually reading the book [33].

Norrell later consults the book when he and Mr Strange are working to free Strange's wife Arabella from her captivity in Faerie in February 1817 [66].
