Donata Torel was the daughter of the twelfth-century Master of Nottingham, Hugh Torel. Along with Margaret Ford, she became a member of a Nottinghamshire fellowship of female magicians which her father sought to abolish. The women, however, left their homes to live under the protection of Thomas Godbless in the forest and continued their practice of magic there.[25].

There is an alternate, and probably untrue, story in which Donata Torel goes to great lengths to recover a magical ring (which had belonged to her father) from Margaret Ford [25].
