Hugh Pontifex

Hugh Pontifex is the author of The Fountain of the Heart, one of the books in Mr Norrell's library at Hurtfew. Since this is one of the books Mr Norrell had hoped to keep from Jonathan Strange we may speculate it is a Book of Magic and not merely a book about magic. Mr Norrell happens to have his eye resting upon this work when Uskglass creates the chaos of ravens within the library, and so he actually sees it in the act of transforming itself into a bird[66].
