Spell of Revelation

Jonathan Strange uses two different spells of revelation. The first he uses to pass through a mirror in the Bedford coffee-house and enter upon the King's Roads [35]. In that case, the spell of revelation is one by the Master of Doncaster [48]. He uses the second spell of revelation when he pursues the gentleman with the thistle-down hair back to his brugh, Lost-hope. As Strange approaches the brugh, it appears to be surrounded by an impenetrable high wall, but by uttering the spell (this one is from Ormskirk) he is able to discover an entrance[55]. The spell presumably disperses the illusions created as a sort of magical defence.
