William Thorpe was an obscure 15th century magician who collaborated with Col Tom Blue to write The Mirrour of the Lyf of Ralph Stokesie, a biography of Ralph Stokesey, one of the greatest Aureate magicians [28]. Although Stokesey himself was a Devonian born it is slightly more likely than not that Thorpe was from Northern England, as his last name is one more commonly found there.

It is unclear if Mr Thorpe, a former magician and member of the Learned Society of York Magicians, was any relation.
